Rosella ‘Rosy’ Marie Benjamin, age 70, of Barry, IL passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.  She was born on August 31, 1949 in Barry, IL to Rosco and Rita Sisk Miller.  She married Oscar ‘Ozzie’ Harris on March 22, 1965 and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2009.  She later married Dennis Benjamin on March 26, 2017, and he survives.

Rosy attended Barry High School and went on to become a CNA.  She worked as a CNA at Illini Community Hospital for many years, as well as numerous nursing homes including Barry Community Care Center.  Rosy was a member of House of Prayer in Kinderhook, IL.  She and her husband loved dancing and entertaining at the Quincy Veterans Home and numerous other nursing homes which brought so much joy to all of the residents.  They were very active in the Barry American Legion, raising money and hosting benefits for people in need.  Rosy was a feisty woman and was known for being vocal on Facebook from time to time.  She was also a very selfless and compassionate angel who was a caretaker to all, always opening her arms and home to anyone in need.  Rosy dearly loved her kids and grandkids above all.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Benjamin; her sons, Rick Harris and Scott (Diana) Harris, both of Barry, IL; daughters, Sherry (Brad) Gleckler, Krissi (Bill) Banks, and Misha (Colt) Ehlert, all of Barry, IL; stepdaughter, Toni Benjamin of Quincy, IL; grandchildren, Mathew (Shelby) Glecker, Brandon Harris, Hailee Harris, Keaton Harris, Kaleb Harris, Dylan Harris, Carter Harris, Camden Harris, Ethan Banks, Avery Banks, William Banks, Jackson Ehlert, Marley Ehlert, and Piper Ehlert; step grandchildren, Gage Ruths, Gabrielle Miller, and Dawson Miller; great grandchildren, Harrison Gleckler and Vayda Gleckler; step great grandchildren, Rosella Marie Fox and Benjamin Beaston; sister, Ruby Harris of Tuscumbia, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosco and Rita Miller; husband, Ozzie Harris; brother, Ronnie Miller; and aunt, Dorothy Elliston.

Funeral services will be held privately and interment will be at Park Lawn Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

My deepest sympathy to all of the family. Rosy was such a beautiful person. I loved her laugh. I had the privilege of working with Rosy and being a distant part of the family. Shared some laughs together. She could definitely brighten a room. She was loved and will be missed deeply. Maybe God comfort you all during this difficult time.
