James Manker, age 69, of Griggsville, IL passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, IL. He was born on May 29, 1950 in Pittsfield, IL to Eugene and Nadine Lloyd Manker. He married Connie Jeanette Lawson on January 17, 1970, and she survives.
James worked for National Starch for over 30 years and after retiring, he worked part time at the Trammo Terminal. He loved hunting, and fishing in tournaments. He also liked singing karaoke, going to the boat, and playing the slots. James greatly enjoyed being with his family and attending his grandsons’ ball games. He was a life time member of Whitetails Unlimited and the Boilmakers Union. James was a hardworking man and he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Connie Manker; his mother, Nadine Manker; children, Jimmy (Kari) Manker of Carrollton, IL and Amy (David) Hill of Nebo, IL; grandchildren, Kendra Schneider, Kimberly Manker, Wesley Manker, Wyatt Manker, Cole Manker, Hannah Hill, Cheyenne Allen, Breanna Manker, Shelly Hill, Josh Hill, Beth Scott and Hope Abney; great grandchildren, Talen Wand, Parker Akers, Trinity Akers, Kayson Hill, Kailyr, Ashyr and Dawsyn; daughter-in-law, Susan Manker and siblings, Larry (Patty) Manker of Griggsville, IL, Norma (Kort) Bartman of Robinson, IL, Nancy (Tom) Ramlow of Beason, IL, Janet (Lester) Rush of Griggsville, IL, and Lori (Dave Brown) Orr of Griggsville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Manker; son, Steve Manker; and special son, Daryl Brite.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery near Detroit, IL. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to be made to Bethel Cemetery or American Heart Association.
