Mildred R. Klassing, age 98, of Clayton, IL passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Barry Community Care Center in Barry.  She was born on February 12, 1921 in Clayton, IL to Turner and Rosetta Kestner Padgett.  She married Clarence Klassing and he preceded her in death in 1981.

Mildred was born and raised in Clayton, IL on her family farm.  After she got married, she worked on the farm but also at Motorola for a couple of years, and she and Clarence worked at the boat dock in Siloam Springs for about ten years.  Mildred enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting.  She was very active in the Clayton Lutheran Church where she was a member and sang in the choir.  Mildred liked to socialize and was a great baker, known for her cinnamon rolls, cookies, pies, and Texas cake.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Carson) Brown of Clayton, IL and Michael (Sheryl) Klassing of Columbia, MO; four grandchildren, Terry (Dale) Leach of Virginia Beach, VA, Kim Bryant of Hull, IL, Jonathan Klassing of Kansas City, MO, and Ryan (Haley) Klassing of Overland Park, Kansas; five great grandchildren, Sean (Nicole) Leach, Devin Leach, Jeremy Waack, Tyler Bryant, and Taylor Bryant; and six great great grandchildren, Rylan Leach, Kara Waack, Austin Waack, Alisa Waack, Samuel Waack, and Brailey Bryant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; parents, Turner and Rosetta Padgett; granddaguther Lisa Brown in 2005; and brother John Padgett.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry.  Interment will follow at Harwood Cemetery in Siloam Springs, IL.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Harwood Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at  Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry is handling the arrangements.

So sorry to hear of Mildred`s passing, she was my oldest cousin, She was a sweet caring lady, we used to talk on the phone often. May your memories live on. Prayers and blessings
