Joshua Shane Witherbee, age 26, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019 at St. John’s TICU in Springfield surrounded by family.  He was born at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL on August 2, 1992; the son of Jeffrey Neal and Helen Marie (Spradlin) Witherbee.

Josh attended school in Pittsfield, with his last year of school being at ESP in Jacksonville. He loved nature, and spent many of his best moments outside with his dad and his children.  Josh had a very big heart for those that meant the most to him.  He spent the last few years of his life being a caregiver to his ailing father, Jeff, before he passed and he always put his best foot forward for his children even after he was no longer physically capable of taking care of them.

Josh is survived by his two children, Hayleigh Shane, age 9, and Thaddeus Marshall Witherbee, age 7, and their mother, Christina Clancy (companion Noah Jones), all of Jacksonville, IL; a brother, Jeremy Witherbee of Jacksonville, IL; sister, Holly (Cody) Hobson of Griggsville, IL; a nephew and niece, Jacob and Alexis Hobson, both of Griggsville, IL; grandmothers, Lilian “Grandma Sugar” Witherbee (companion Paul Waters) of Franklin, IL and Judy Spradlin of Galesburg, IL; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and homies.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen on February 8, 2011; his father, Jeff on March 18, 2018; his grandfathers, Kessler Witherbee and Albert Spradlin; and his “favorite” aunt, Carol Cray.

No services will be held and cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials are suggested to be left for his children: Hayleigh and Thaddeus Witherbee c/o Christina Clancy, 456 S East St., Jacksonville, IL  62650.  Online condolence may be left to the family at  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

You were a good friend and a good father. I'll remember our talks for the rest of my life. I'll look at your boy and see your smile/your father's. I'll keep my promise to you. I got your back MMFCL - whoop whoop

I am so glad I got to spend time with you , your brother Jeremey, (my son) last year. I really enjoyed getting to know you. You touched my heart. The only way this makes sense to me is that you are in heaven with your dad and mom. Bless your precious children. RIP Josh.
