Gary L. Knake, age 66, of rural Pleasant Hill, IL passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at his residence.  He was born on September 3, 1952 in Kankakee, IL to Ellery and Colleen Wilken Knake.  He married Jean Huddleston on March 31, 1984, and she survives.

Gary graduated from Urbana High School in 1970.  He went on to own a Backpackers and Travel Club.  He and Jean came to Pike County in 1981 and he started working at Walmart in 1982, working as a Manager.  Gary left Walmart to open his own promotional advertising business.   He and Jean also opened and operated the Kozy Korner in Pleasant Hill.  Gary enjoyed spending time outdoors and on his farm, especially during mushrooming season.  He also dearly loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jean; his son, Skylar (Cara) Knake of Rockport, IL; and a granddaughter, Riley Bryant, as well as another grandchild on the way; and a brother, Kim Knake.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter Chelsey.

There will be no services held at this time.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Riley Bryant Educational Fund.  Online condolences may be left to the family at  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I met Gary through his promotional business. He was so friendly and easy to work with. I know he will be missed.
