Emma Marie Parks, age 83, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  She was born on February 8, 1935 in Detroit, IL to Charles Gay and Lela May Benjamin Shipley.  She married William Parks in Norfolk, VA on August 10, 1953, and he survives.

Emma attended Milton High School.  She went on to work as a waitress at various local restaurants, including the Cardinal Inn and the Red Dome.  She dearly loved her customers and they loved her.  Emma was a grain and livestock farmer alongside of her husband for many, many years.  She was a longtime member of the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene. In earlier years, Emma enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and canning.  She also loved her flower garden and spending time tending to her flowers.  She liked baking and cooking, and enjoyed entertaining guests at their home.  Anytime there was a friend in need, she enjoyed taking food that she prepared.  She also loved attending all of the events her grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bill; a son, Rick (Trisha) Parks of O’Fallon, IL; a daughter, Tammy (Ron) Dunham of Pittsfield, IL; a son-in-law. Jeff Kistner of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, Brooke (Kevin) Banning, Tyson (Lindsay) Dunham, Caleb Kistner, Makenzie Parks, Olivia Parks, and Reagan Parks; five great grandchildren; a sister, Jean (Gary) DeSpain of Carlinville, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Linda Kistner; and her siblings, Harold Shipley, Paul Shipley, Don Shipley, Ray Shipley, Judy DeSpain, and Juanita Shipley in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene.  Interment will follow at Pittsfield West Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene.  Memorials are suggested to the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene or Donor’s Choice.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
