Randall “Randy” E. Smith, age 56, of Barry, IL passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  He was born on November 7, 1962 in Pittsfield, IL to William and Patsy Constable Smith.  He married Larissa Forshey on November 8, 1980 at the Barry Church of Christ and of this union came three children.

Randy graduated from Barry High School in 1981.  While still in high school, he attended Quincy Vo-Tech, and also received certification in auto body repair from John Wood Community College after graduating high school.  He worked in the shop at Oitker Ford in Barry, and then worked at Lorraine Cheese Company in Pittsfield.  Randy went on to work at Bleigh Construction in Hannibal from 1987 until 2007.  He was a member of the Barry Church of Christ.  In his spare time, he loved working in the yard and especially in his garden.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and restoring old cars.  When his son Troy was 13, he bought a Plymouth Duster and they spent many hours together restoring it.  Randy had also rescued animals since he was young and was a coin collector.  He loved spending time with his grandsons, and if he wasn’t at a game for one of them, he was at home watching the others.  Randy was a very loving man, and was the glue that held his family together.  He loved his family very much and he also enjoyed his dogs Luke and Sadie.

He is survived by his mother, Patsy; three sons, Troy (Alicia) Smith, Trevin Smith, and Tanner Smith, all of Barry, IL; two brothers, David Smith and Steve (Michelle) Smith, both of Barry, IL; a sister, Chris McConnell of Bluffs, IL; three grandsons, Mason, Brayden, and Rylan; several nieces and nephews; a special great niece, Braelyn; and Larissa and her family.

He was preceded in death by his father, William; and his grandparents, Paul and Frances Smith, and Clarence and Edna Constable.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry.  Interment will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Education Fund for his grandsons.   Niebur Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
