William Allen Syrcle, age 79, of Griggsville, IL passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at his home.  He was born on June 1, 1939 in Griggsville to Howard and Vivian Dyer Syrcle.  He married Susan Baecht in 2003, and she survives.

Shortly after William graduated from Griggsville High School, he joined the United States Army and was Honorably Discharge in 1961.  It was around this time he married his first wife, Sharon White, and they had four children together.  William worked numerous jobs including Blick’s Construction in Quincy for many, many years, and also worked as a nonprofit organization event coordinator.  Eventually, he worked for Tate Cheese, where he retired from.  He was a volunteer for the Police Auxiliary in Quincy for many years, a member of the Senior Citizens Board in Pittsfield, and a member of the O.A.S.I.S. group at the Assembly of God, where he was a member.  In his spare time, William loved gardening and canning vegetables.  He liked reading, target shooting, and baking and cooking.  William had a love for trains, and his animals.  He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a strong, smart, hardworking man, and was a big teddy bear who would do anything for anyone.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; three sons, David Allen (Crystal) Syrcle, Sr. of Griggsville, IL, John Robert Syrcle, Sr. of Griggsville, IL, and Wesley (Jennifer) Dejaynes of Pittsfield, IL; two daughters, Donna Jean Ballinger and Tammy (Lafayette) Scoggins, both of Griggsville, IL; twenty-three grandchildren, Alleyne, Terry, David Jr., Ronald, Paige, Jaime, Tracy, Jessica, Brandy, John Jr., Alan, Kelsy, Kaylie, Bailey, Gavin, Sierra, Parker, Gregory, Addison, Charles, Dakota, Aiden, and Cassie; his siblings, Ralph (Joyce) Syrcle of Griggsville, IL, Joanne Bree of San Jose, IL, Margaret McDaniel of Griggsville, IL, and Betty Coultas of Pittsfield, IL; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers-in-law, Bob McDaniel, Bob Coultas, and Bob Bree.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL.  Interment will follow at Griggsville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the family.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
