Hyla Mae Eustace, age 100, of Pittsfield, formerly of Waukegan, IL, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield, IL.  She was born on October 2, 1918 in Waukegan to William and Sarah Elledge Kilian.  She married William Eustace on August 30, 1941, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2006.

Some time after Hyla graduated from Griggsville High School, she moved to Waukegan where she met her husband and they remained living for over 50 years.  While living up north, Hyla worked at the Waukegan City Hall, retiring from the Water Department Collections office.  She was an active member of the First Christian Church there, teaching Sunday School for 46 years and also singing in the choir.  Hyla was the President of the Rebecca Lodge, serving at Regional and State levels.  After she and William retired, they enjoyed travelling, camping, fishing, and church camp.  She also enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, and doing arts and crafts.  Hyla returned back to Pike County to live with her son after her husband passed away and she has remained here since.

She is survived by a son, David (Mary) Eustace of Pearl, IL; a daughter, Carol (Larry) Sams of Kampsville, IL; five granddaughters, Dee (Jim) Pendleton of Kampsville, IL, Denise Sams of Gurnee, IL, Laura (Jed) Coffey of Kampsville, IL, Donna (Rich) Hodap of Waukegan, IL, and Debbie (Mike) Adams of Waukegan, IL; seven great grandchildren, Karli (Aaron) Lee of Lindenhurst, IL, Taylor Klingaman of Minocqua, WI, Sarah (Alex) Workman of Jerseyville, IL, Bellanca Lucchesi of Denver, CO, Gabrielle Workman of Kampsville, IL, and Zachary and Jacob Adams of Waukegan, IL; and three great great grandchildren, Owen Lord, Vanna Lee, and Ryder Lee.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, William; her parents, William and Sarah Kilian; a great granddaughter, Brianna; a daughter-in-law, Lou Eustace; and several brothers and sisters.

All services will be private.  Memorials are suggested to Eastside Activity Fund.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
