Grace Rebekah Long, age 89, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 as a resident at Eastside Healthcare and Rehab for 8 years after a long battle with cancer.  She was born on June 25, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Walter James and Ruby Ellen Cammire.

The family moved to Iliopoulos, IL where her father was an auto mechanic and a charter dealer for Chrysler and Plymouth cars.  Grace attended grade school there and attended The Methodist church where she sang in the choir.  She also was a Girl Scout, took voice lessons, public speaking, and was a 4-H member.  Grace graduated from Barry High School and married Alfred Morgan Long on August 3, 1947 at her home in Barry, IL.  She had degrees in Real Estate and CNA Insurance.  While working for Abraham Life Insurance Company, she sold over one million dollars in life insurance.  She also sold Kirby Vacuums, selling over 100 vacuums for the company.  Grace sold advertising for Brown and Bigelow as well, and went onto attend Oral Roberts University.  Grace and Alfred were married 57 years and farmed in Pittsfield 57 years.  One of her greatest accomplishments was being President of the Ladies Aux. of Soil and Water Conservation.  She and her husband won the Soil Conservation Watershed of the year award for their farming practices.  Grace was a member of the Illinois State Women Christian Temperance Union. She enjoyed traveling with the family.   Her main hobby over the years was quilting, having quilted 31 quilts.  She loved reading westerns, mysteries and Amish.  Grace enjoyed her time as a Girl Scout leader, and 4-H leader.  She enjoyed playing the organ and she also planned the crafts for campers at the Mississippi Christian Service Camp.  Grace also wrote some articles for the Jacksonville Courier.

She is survived by her son, David (Pat) Long of Mt. Sterling, IL; two daughters, Rhonda (James) Johnson of Grayslake, IL and Kathy (Brad) Willman of Pittsfield, IL; grandchildren, Tina McDonald of Hannibal, MO, Heather (Rick) Deegan of Trevor, WI, Todd (Shari) Johnson of Indian Land, SC, Nicole (Jon) Groeper of Greenwood, IN, Elizabeth Willman of Pittsfield, IL, and Joshua (Jennifer) Willman of Pittsfield, IL; and great grandchildren, Tristan Deegan, Logan Deegan, Charlotte Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Justin Groeper, Derek Groeper, Travis Groeper, Paige Willman, Jake Willman, and Henry Willman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter James Cammire and Ruby Ellen Robinson; her husband, Alfred Morgan Long; and her brother, Charles Walter Cammire.

Private services will be held.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Blessing Hospice. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

David, Rhonda and Kathy: Regardless of their age, it is always hard to say good-bye to someone we have loved so long. Please accept our condolences in the death of your mother. We are so glad that we went over to see her last April when we were in MO.

OUR SINCERE COLDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF Ms GRACE. I SO ENJOYED HER AT THE BIBLE STUDIES I DO OUT AT EASTSIDE. SHE WAS SO KNOWLEDGEABLE AND ADDED SO MUCH EXTRA TO THE STUDIES. SHE WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW AND ENJOYED HER OUT THERE.
