Music by The Piano Brothers

Nadine G. Ransom, whose 100th birthday was to be November 15, 2018, passed from this earthly life on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.  Nadine moved to Pittsfield, IL from Martinsburg, home of her parents, Guy W. and Fay Dexter Gray, at the age of 20 to work at the Ford Motor Company where she met a striking, dark-haired young man obtaining the title for a new car.  Robert Ransom became her husband of 51 years preceding her in death in 1991.

Surviving are their daughters, Roberta (Ed) Randorf of Jacksonville, IL and Carolyn (Dale) Reed of Wildwood, MO, as well as loving grandchildren Lance (Kristen) Reed of Lexington, MA and Renee (Pat) Brewer of Springfield, IL, great grandchildren Abby and Brendan Reed of Lexington, MA, and one brother Duane Gray of Lee’s Summit, MO.

Another brother, H.G. Gray, preceded her in death as well as many special friends, among them Lucille Shaw, JoAnn Sealock, Bettie Harrison, and George Spellman.

Nadine was sought after by various businesspeople as a valued employee in office/bookkeeper  positions.  She was a founding “mother” of the Calvary Baptist Church in 1950 serving as a faithful member of the choir, helping care for the children in the nursery, supporting mission projects, and volunteering into her 90’s at local nursing homes.  As a resident these last 2 and a half years, her smile brought much joy to the caregivers at Eastside Health and Rehabilitation Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield, IL.  Interment will follow at Pittsfield West Cemetery.  There will be a visitation prior the service at Calvary Baptist from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.  Friends are invited to attend a luncheon that will be held at 12:30 PM at the church.  Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church Missions' Fund or Baptist Children's Home and Family Services, Carmi, IL.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Roberta, I saw notice of your mother's passing in an email from LWV. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May her life celebration be just that - a celebration worthy of many, many good years; and may your memories be blessed, your heart comforted while grieving. Blessings, Jean Hembrough

My thoughts and prayers are with you girls and the rest of the family. It was a pleasure knowing Nadine and being able to assist her in her home. She was a lovely lady and will be missed by many. Sending hugs to you during this difficult time. I'm sure there was rejoicing in Heaven when all the lafies were reunited!
