Yvonne J. Claus Griffeth Ballard, age 89, formerly of Jacksonville, IL passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL.  She was born on May 7, 1929 in Pittsfield, IL, the daughter of Edward and Emma Sparks Claus.  She married Stuart Bud Griffeth and later married Don Ballard, both preceding her in death.

In the late 1940’s and 1950’s, Yvonne worked as a waitress at the Cardinal Inn and was a manager at the Dari Ripple, both in Pittsfield.  The family moved to Michigan and to North Dakota before making their home in Jacksonville, IL for many years.  Before retiring, she worked at Barb’s Furniture and Consignment.  Yvonne loved George Jones and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.  She dearly enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandy (Terry) Reel of Pittsfield, IL and Barb (Larry) Whewell of South Jacksonville, IL; two sons, Chester (Tami) Griffeth of Ozark, MO and Philip (Rose Van Egmond) Griffeth of Alsey, IL; fourteen grandchildren, Rick (Tracey) Reel, Christa (Dave) Beck, Bill Perkins, Jamie (Chrissi) Reel, John Griffeth, Jim (Robin) Griffeth, Kay (Stevie) Rankin, Mike Griffeth, Adam (Miranda Dimmerling) Griffeth, Rebecca Griffeth, Cindy Harms, Cheri Reardon, Cathy (Charlie) Beiler, and Megan (Brandon) Fellows; twenty great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Marge Griffeth of Murrayville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Stuart Bud Griffeth and Don Ballard; and two sons, Michael Griffeth and Gale Griffeth.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Jamie Reel officiating.  Interment will follow at Blue River Cemetery near Detroit.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Liberty Village of Pittsfield: Garden Court Activity Fund.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieurfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

To all of you -- so sorry to hear of Aunt Von's passing. I have such great memories of spending lots of time with all of you during our younger years. So sorry to hear about Aunt Yvonne. I just heard from talking to Chris. I have such wonderful memories of my childhood with all of you. Aunt Yvonne will always be in my memories, God Bless all of you.
