Philip Lee McCann, age 69, of Pittsfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on July 14, 1949 in Jacksonville, IL to Theodore and Melba Walker McCann.  He married Carolyn Jones on September 23, 1977 at Pearl Church of Christ, and she survives.

Philip was a 1967 graduate of Virginia Community Unit High School.  After graduating, he joined the United States Navy and was active until 1971.  While in the United States Navy, he was in the Fighter Squadron 41, also known as the Black Aces.  After his Honorable Discharge, he went back to work for Good Year with his dad and then went on to work for Dyno Nobel as a mechanic until his retirement in 2012 after 29 years of service.  He loved tinkering and working on cars, especially antique cars.  Philip also enjoyed working on RC Airplanes and he was a member of the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 41 years, Carolyn; a daughter, Lisa McCann of Griggsville, IL; a granddaughter, Destiny Faith Dolbeare of Payson, IL; two brothers, Steven (Debra) McCann of Roanoke, IL and Kevin (Brenda) McCann of Pittsfield, IL; and a sister, Kyle Shade of Jacksonville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Richard McCann.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.  There will be no interment.  Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society.  Online condolences may be left  to the family at  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
