Carroll P. McCann, age 95, of Pearl, IL passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL.  He was born on February 13, 1923 in Pearl, IL to Ivy and Cecil Jackson McCann.  He married Lois Gourley in Pocahontas, AR on April 22, 1950, and she survives.

After graduating high school, Carroll worked at Brown Shoe Company and then for Oscar Mayer, where he retired from.  He also served in the United States Army. Carroll was a farmer, which he did all of his life and greatly enjoyed.  He also enjoyed coon hunting and reading.  He loved spending time outdoors working in his garden, and visiting with his friends at morning coffee at the café in Nebo.  He was an avid Cardinals baseball fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois; a son, Franklin Jay (wife, Karen) McCann of Columbia, IL; a daughter, Carolyn (husband, Gary) Cooper of Godfrey, IL; seven grandchildren, Michael (wife, Claire) Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Nick Cooper, and Kaitlin Cooper, all of Godfrey, IL, and Samantha McCann, Jessica McCann, and Austin McCann, all of Columbia, IL; and one great grandchild, Sloane Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bobby Gene McCann.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL.  Interment will follow the service at Greenpond Cemetery near Pearl, IL.  Visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Greenpond Cemetery or the Pearl Church of Christ.  Online condolences may be left to the family at  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

While I did not know Carroll, I wish that he Rest In Peace and my condolences go out to the family. You are part of my family as I am Ruby’s granddaughter.
