Joe Robert Yelliott, 91 of Pittsfield passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Liberty Village in Pittsfield.  Joe was born on January 1, 1927 in rural Pike County, a son of George L. and Nellie R. Mullnix Yelliott.  He married Barbara Jones on June 7, 1952 in Pittsfield; she survives.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII.  At the age of 16 and before his call to duty he started driving a truck and continued his career as an over the road truck driver working for various companies and helping out Ding and Dike Gerard and Callendar Construction.   Joe retired from Mobil Chemical in Jacksonville as an over the road driver.   To stay young and active Joe enjoyed lawn care, helping several individuals in Pittsfield.  He also enjoyed puzzles, playing on the computer, watching news on TV and going to the casino.  Joe was always ready to go for coffee with his buddies and certain days of the week with his son.   Joe was a past member of the Moose Lodge #420.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara; two sons, Terry Glenn (Bonnie) Yelliott of Pittsfield and Robert Eugene (Jan) Yelliott of Barry; four grandchildren, RaShelle Brown of Pittsfield; Belinda “B.J.” Yelliott of Pittsfield; Derek (Jenna) Yelliott of rural Pittsfield; and Robin (Ed) Johnson of Quincy. Six grandchildren survive: Lane, Kelsey and Lucas Yelliott; Presley Brown; Anthony Miller; and Alex Johnson; and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews including Roger and Kenny Yelliott of Pittsfield and Barbara’s family.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Eva Marie Franklin; and four brothers, George, Lee Edward, Fred and Glenn Yelliott.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until time of service.  Interment will be in the Pittsfield West Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Pittsfield American Legion Post #152 military honor guard.

Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pittsfield West Cemetery or Unity Hospice.  The Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield has been entrusted with the service.

Bob, sorry to learn of your father's passing. Always enjoyed our chats with him at your home. Best of all having your dad convince the Gerard brothers - Ding and Dike into hiring us to work for them during the summer months when we were in high school.
