Mara L. Ervin, 60, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at her residence.  She was born on August 8, 1957 to Ray and Dorothy Macgirvin Weaver in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Mara graduated in 1974 from Civic Memorial High School and also attended Lewis and Clark Community College for Early Childhood Education.  She waitressed at various places for several years, was a Police Dispatcher in Calhoun County, and also worked as a Head Start Teacher in Hardin for many years.  Mara eventually began working for Walmart 27 years ago and up until her passing, she was a Department Manager.  

She was a very active member of Grace Baptist Church in Pittsfield, serving as a Sunday School teacher, working in the Nursery, helping with jail ministry, and was a part of Women’s Club.  Mara loved scrapbooking and was a member of a scrapbooking club called the Rowdy Bunch.  She was a very hard worker and dearly loved her friends.  Mara was a very caring person, especially about her children, grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Baby.

She is survived by her sons, Chris (Suzanne) Ontis of Pleasant Hill, IL and Jeremy Burge of Pittsfield, IL; a daughter, Sherry (Tony) Bacott of Barry, IL; five grandchildren, Autumn Ontis, Zachary Ontis, Kory Booher, Rebekkah Smith, and John Smith; one great granddaughter, Jaelyn Bibb; a brother, Harry (Anna) Weaver of Chatham, IL; a sister, Danielle (Thomas) Hinsey of Benld, IL; and six nieces of nephews, Amanda Weaver, Alex Hinsey, Amy Costello, Austin Hinsey, Chris Telkamp, and Liana Telkamp.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church in Pittsfield, IL with Pastor Dice offiating.  Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church.  Memorials are suggested to Grace Baptist Church or The Rowdy Bunch.  Online condolences may be left  to the family at  Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.

My deepest sympathies to the family. She was a good friend and will be greatly missed, but is celebrating in Heaven for eternity. May the good Lord grant you measures of comfort in this time.

Sorry for your loss. I remember her and her husband coming in to eat when they were dating. I had the privilege of working with her son Jeremy. Mara always said hi to me and was very nice, I will miss seeing her when I buy my yarn. May God help you through this very sad time.

Please know I cannot be with you in person, but will be in spirit and prayers. My heart is broken at this moment but I know God's wishes are true for her.I am happy to know my sister is going to be there to greet her. LOVES

Prayers and sympathy for all Mara's family. She was a very nice and thoughtful sister in law, always ready to help when needed. Mara will be greatly missed by her loved ones and all the hearts she touched.
