Curtis Lee Fudge, 74, of rural Pittsfield, IL passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  He was born on December 15, 1943 in Pittsfield, IL to Gerald and C. Elizabeth Bergman Fudge.  Curt married his wife of 50 years, Karen Kampe, on August 20, 1967 at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church, and she survives.

Curt was a 1962 Pittsfield High School graduate.  He went on to attend the University of Illinois for a year before attending Southern Illinois University for two years.  Curt was in the United States Army Reserves from 1965 until 1970.  Before completion of his Bachelor’s Degree at Southern, he was called into active duty in the United States Army.  He returned to his family farm where he again worked side by side with his dad.  Curt became an independent insurance agent in the 1990’s and was still working until his passing.  In early years, he was active in 4-H which he passed onto his daughters.  He had a love for flying small airplanes and also enjoyed golfing and boating .  He liked his morning coffee outings with his friends, and greatly enjoyed his time spent with his family.  Curt will be remembered for his loyalty to friends and family, as well as his love for life.  He was a member of the Pittsfield United Methodist Church, the Pike County Farm Bureau, and the Old Orchard Country Club.  Curt was also a member of the Moose Lodge #420, the American Legion Post # 152, The Shriners, and the Pittsfield Masonic Lodge # 0790.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Kendra (Jeremy) Kelley of Bloomington, IL and Kara (Brian) Gifford of Bloomfield Hills, MI; three grandchildren, Chloe Gifford, Ella Gifford, and JT Kelley; and two sisters, Charlotte (Steve) Gray of Lafayette, IN and Roxana (Lee Thorson) Fudge of Storm Lake, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy, Krista Kay.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church with Mick Laflin officiating.  Interment will be held privately at a later date.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Masonic services at 7:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Pittsfield United Methodist Church or the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Karen and family, I was saddened to hear of Curt's passing. He was a wonderful person and also had such a great sense of humor, he will be missed by many. I so enjoyed the many years spent with your family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
