Barbara L. McKee, 63, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield.  She was born on January 5, 1955 in Pittsfield, IL to Robert & Hazel Roberts Ghrist.  Barb married Kevin McKee on June 9, 1973 at Pittsfield First Christian Church, and he survives.

Barb graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1973.  She went on to work at the Ben Franklin dime store and the Dari Ripple.  She then began her customer service career in the grocery business, working for the Ellis' and then the Cummings'.  Once the store closed, she began working at County Market where she was a current employee.  Barb was a member of Pittsfield Assembly of God since 1977.  She loved her church and in previous years, she had helped in the nursery and Children's Ministry.  When Barb wasn't working, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kevin McKee; mother, Hazel Ghrist;  two daughters, Chris Bower of Pleasant Hill, IL and Tammy Springer of Pittsfield, IL; five grandchildren, Tyler McKee, Abby Springer, Nathan Bower, Rhett Springer, and Molly Springer; a brother, Bobby Ghrist of Pittsfield, IL; two sisters, Cindy (Paul) Verticchio of Jacksonville, IL and Donna (Steve) McKee of Quincy, IL; mother-in-law, Bonna McKee of Martinsburg, IL; brother-in-law, Bruce (Barb) McKee of Pittsfield, IL; sister-in-law, Sherry (Curt) Gard of New Canton, IL; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Ghrist; father-in-law, Robert McKee; and brother-in-law, Donald McKee.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Pittsfield Assembly of God.  Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  There will be a visitation on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Memorials are suggested to Oakwood Cemetery, Pittsfield Assembly of God, or Pike County Honor Flight.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

I am so sorry for your loss ...Barbara was one of the sweetest ladys I met..She ALWAYS had a smile ..shr could always brighten your day just by her smile &kind words...God needed her...As much pain it has caused always know she is watching over you all...she'll give you all a sign she is there...whether its a butterfly ..a red robin..Trust me I feel ur pain ...My prayers are with you all...Keven,Chris & Tammy an family...Love you all God bless.

Our family knew Barb for years through church and County Market. Always a pleasure to talk to. So friendly and willing to help anyone the best that she could. Our condolences go out to the family and may she now sing with angels in Heaven. Barb will be remembered and missed.
