Music by The Piano Brothers

Bertha A. Seybold, 87, of Independence Missouri, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at the Villages of Jackson Creek Memory Care. She was born in Nebo, Illinois on October 09, 1930 to Russell and Bernice Shaw.  Bertha was married to Charles Seybold and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2009.

Bertha retired in 1992 from Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis Missouri as a Sterile Processing Technician.  After retirement, she moved back to Illinois to be with family.  She worked for Casteel's in Pittsfield, IL part time for approximately 4 years. During that time, she and Charles were married and they enjoyed outdoor gardening, traveling, and several winters in Brownsville, Texas.  She enjoyed caring for her family and home. Bertha loved country music and especially dancing to it.  She was also a member of the Pittsfield United Methodist Church.  In October of 2011, Bertha moved to Independence, Missouri to be with her daughter.  In time, Dementia took much of her awareness so was moved to a memory care facility. Bertha touched us all with her sweet and charming nature.  She will be greatly missed by all of us who were a part of her life.

A special thank you to the staff of Villages of Jackson Creek Memory Care for the compassionate care given to Bertha.

She is survived by daughter, Joyce (Jesse) Cano of Independence, MO; sister, Evelyn (Arnold) Edwards of Ball, Louisiana; stepsons, Charles (Carol) Seybold of Pittsfield, Illinois and Craig (Lacy) Seybold of Austin Texas; four grandchildren, Angel Ramsey, Jessica Crossman; step-grandsons, Rob Seybold (Rebecca) Seybold and Scott Seybold; and six great grandchildren.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Bernice Shaw; sister, Ruth Ricks; son, Gerald Crossman; grandsons, Scott Cano, Rob Crossman and Ron Crossman.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Burial will follow at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

My sympathy to all the family of Bertha,
Yes, she was sweet and charming that I recognized right away tho strangers we were.
Bertha took a chance on me during a very difficult time back in 1992. She allowed me to rent her house with the rent applying and the option to buy it IF and WHEN I could manage it. I just feel the need to have you know what that meant to me. She was somewhat unsettled she said, but I knew when she met and married Charlie she was truly happy and content. God Bless you all, may you have many pleasant memories.
So sincerely, Bonnie Long
