Mary A. Rupert, 87, of Pittsfield, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.  Mary was born on September 23, 1930 to George and Bernadine Holtschlag Venvertloh in Quincy.  She married Walter Rupert on May 6, 1961 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Quincy and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1981.

Mary graduated from Quincy Notre Dame High School in 1948.  She met Walter through Rural Youth and after marrying in 1961, she and Walter lived in Springfield.  They later moved to Pittsfield through Walter's work to the farm home where she raised their children.  Mary spent most of her life as a farmwife and mother until she went to work at Hardee's in the late 1970s.  She retired from there in 2004.  Mary collected angel figurines and loved bowling in the Tuesday afternoon Ladies League.  She enjoyed playing pinochle with her family and having coffee with her sisters.  Mary liked gardening and kept a very manicured yard, and she also enjoyed baking and cooking for her family.  She loved playing with her grandchildren, especially summers in the pool.  Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, serving on the St. Mary's Alter Society and was a board member of the Parish Council.  She was also a Eucharistic Minister.

She is survived by two sons, Rob Rupert of Pittsfield and Jeff Rupert of Mt. Sterling; three daughters, Jane (Brad) Smith of Pittsfield, Carol (Brian) Neumann of Arizona, and Susan (Pat) Hildebrand of Plainville; eight grandchildren, Alysse Smith, Ellyn Smith, Wayde Smith, Darren Neumann, Travis Neumann, Jacob Neumann, Ryan Hildebrand, and Katie Hildebrand; four brothers, Paul "Bill" (Shirley) Venvertloh, George (Emily) Venvertloh Jr., LeRoy (Mary) Venvertloh, and Joe (Karen) Venvertloh, all of Quincy; four sisters, Mildred Ehrhardt of Quincy, Grace (Paul) Link of Madison, WI, Rosie (John) Baker of Quincy, and Marcia (Denny) Barry of Liberty; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; two sisters in infancy; sister, Esther Dietrich; and two brothers, Robert "Bob" Venvertloh and Harold "Butch" Venvertloh.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pittsfield with Father Mark Schulte as celebrant.
