Richard O. Robertson, 74, of Barry passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 in his home.  Richard was born on July 18, 1943 to Charles E. and Goldie E. Embree Robertson in Hadley Township.  

Richard graduated from Barry High School in 1961 and went into the United States Army directly after.  He was stationed in Germany until his discharge from the Army in 1964.  He then began working for the Illinois Department of Transportation where he retired from after working 25 years.  Richard also farmed, which he loved, outside of Barry for many years.  He enjoyed tinkering on his mustangs, owning several over the years, and liked to take them to the Barry Apple Festival car shows.  Richard also collected model mustangs.  He loved to fish and go mushroom hunting and enjoyed spending time with his friends.   Richard was a long time member of the Barry American Legion Post #222.

He is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Robertson of Barry and Lisa Robertson of Richmond, VA; two brothers, James “Jim” Robertson of Barry and Robert “Bobby” (Heidi) Robertson of Colorado Springs, CO; four sisters, Mary Ann Myers of Rockport, Freda (Larry) Rudolph of Woodriver, Catherine “Katie” (Art) Harris of Iberia, MO, and Sharon (Nick) Brown of Barry.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edwin Dale Robertson and Michael “Oscar” Robertson; two sisters, Alice Jean Crain and Betty Lynn in infancy.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Kinderhook Cemetery with Mike Malone officiating. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Barry American Legion Post #222. Family and friends are invited to attended the service.

I,am so sorry to hear of Richard,s passing, he and I were friends for a long time. We were in the same high school graduation class. we enlisted in the Army at the same time, after witch we went our separate ways. I have fond memories of time we spent to gather may God bless his family and may he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of (uncle Richards) passing. Always friendly and fun to be around and always loved his collection of cars over the years. Condolences to My Myers family and to the Robertson family. Richard will be missed.
