Helen Nadine Hurt, age 93, of Barry, IL passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born on May 14, 1927 to Leon and Jessie Smith Bogan in Hadley Township. She married Hugh A. Hurt on December 26, 1960 at the Barry Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2008.
Nadine worked at the Brown Shoe Factory in Pittsfield until she married Hugh. She loved gardening and canning and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. She enjoyed baking pies and her specialties were Zucchini pie and Pecan pie. She loved her family very much and getting together with everyone. She was a strong and cordial woman who was also thoughtful, caring, and loving.
She is survived by two children, Lori Hurt of Pittsfield, IL and Randall (Jeane) Hurt of Barry, IL; two grandchildren, Kayloni (Eric) Obert of Liberty, IL and Alex (Megan) Hurt, of New London, MO; five great grandchildren, Elijah, Raelee, Lyla, Casen, and Corie; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Yorkie, Brandi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh A. Hurt; parents; three brothers, Meredith, Lyndell and Bobby Bogan; two sisters, Gretta (Bogan) Shimmin and Grace (Bogan) Harlow; one niece, Carol (Bogan) Phieffer; and nephew, Christopher Bogan.
All services will be held privately and interment will be at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Kepley House. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
