Ruda ‘Rudy’ M. Wainman, age 74, of Griggsville, IL passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  He was born on September 25, 1945 in Griggsville, IL to Clifford ‘Bill’ and Elsie Mae Wheeler Wainman.  He married Karol Smith on May 9, 1985 in Owensboro, KY, and she survives.

Rudy graduated from Griggsville High School and went on to join the United States Army in November 1965 until August 1967.  He served in the Vietnam War most of his active career and earned many medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Expert (Rifle M-16).  After Rudy was Honorably Discharged from the US Army, he began working for International Harvester.  He went on to work for Econ Express which transferred him to Kentucky where he was a fleet manager for several years.  He then worked as a truck driver hauling yachts for Genmar, retiring in 2011. He and Karol relocated back to Pike County in 2016.  Rudy attended the Church of the Nazarene in Griggsville, IL.  He was a self-taught wood worker and was a perfectionist about it.  He loved working in his yard, making it look meticulous and always had a project going.  Rudy enjoyed watching Gunsmoke among other Westerns, and spending time with family as much as he could.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Karol Wainman; stepchildren, Cammie (Garret) Dozier of Auburn, IL and Kenyon Leedy of Pittsfield, IL; two loved sons, Daniel (Shelley) Brennecke and Jeff Brennecke, both of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Kendra Leedy, Konner Leedy, Tanner Leedy, and Dustin Brennecke; one great grandchild, Gunner Leedy; brother, Richard (Patty) Wainman of Pittsfield, IL; sister, Wanda McCallister of Jacksonville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Billie Phillips, Donna Jean Gant, and Ruby Sappington Rodriquez.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the Church of the Nazarene in Griggsville.  Online condolences may be left to the family at  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
