Music by The Piano Brothers

Shirley Kay Howard, age 72, of Quincy, IL, formerly of Barry, IL passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at her daughter’s home in New London, MO.  She was born on February 27, 1948 in Pike County, IL to James and Irene Nichols Sisk.  She married Billy Lee Howard on September 19, 1964 and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2006.
Shirley attended school in Barry, IL.  She met her husband while waitressing and they began driving a truck together for many years.  They later bought Barry Tire and Auto Repair Shop which they owned and operated for ten years.  Shirley enjoyed playing the gaming machines and watching Wheel of Fortune.  In earlier years, she loved going “honky-tonking” with Bill and mushroom hunting.  She also liked country music, fishing, and was a great cook.  Shirley was a strong lady- incredibly dedicated and loyal to those she loved. Those who knew her well also knew what a spitfire she was. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her but never forgotten.
She is survived by her mother, Irene Sisk; two daughters, Susan (Carl) Christner of New London, MO and Debbie (Eric) Balmoja of Glendora, CA; five grandchildren, Brady Christner, Micah Christner, Jessica Christner, Vince Balmoja, and Conner Balmoja; three sisters, Penny Hawkinson of Hannibal, MO, Fanny Clark of Barry, IL, and Linda Osten of Barry, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee Howard; father, James Sisk; sister, Janet Maglioacchetti; and brothers, James Sisk and Elgin Jennings.
A private graveside service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, IL.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Community Loving Care Hospice.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
