Roger B. Pennock, age 65, of Detroit, IL passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at his home.  He was born on September 27, 1953 in Pittsfield, IL to Everett and Lois Reel Pennock.  He married Brenda Spann on June 20, 1980 at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church, and she survives.

Roger worked at Central Stone in Florence for over 30 years and was a member of the Detroit United Methodist Church.  He loved Demolition Derby, whether it be attending them or driving as car #20.  He enjoyed going to concerts, fulfilling his lifelong dream to attend a concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and liked travelling the country in his Thunderbird in later years.  Roger also enjoyed being outdoors.  He was intelligent, strong, and a man of few words and has left behind many people who loved him, as well as his massive t-shirt collection.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Brenda; two children, Casey (Nick) Beck of Pittsfield and Andrew (Sarah) Pennock of Brighton, IL; four grandchildren, Joseph Beck, Wesley Beck, William Beck, and Moxie Pennock; siblings, Marcia (Kay) Dehart of Pittsfield, IL, Nancy (Richard) Lomelino of Detroit, IL, Jerry (Wanda) Pennock of Detroit, IL, John (Lisa) Pennock of Pittsfield, IL, Reggie (Kim) Pennock of Pittsfield, IL, and Jamie (Brandi) Pennock of Pittsfield, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Gary Pennock.

My memories of Roger will always be his quiet, calm nature and quick, dry wit. He was a man of few words but always important insights that no one else thought of. He always showed kindness with his warm smile. He always made me laugh.Brenda and all the family was truly blessed to have him apart of their journey each day. I have been blessed to have had him apart of my journey on this earth. I know we will meet in heaven again and laugh and laugh!
Love, Cheryl and Gilbert

Brenda, Casey, Andy, Aunt Nancy, Jerry, Wanda and all-

We were unable to come to the visitation and we just wanted to say a word or two about remembrance: even though Roger has gone to a better place, he will never be forgotten and his presence will be with you all. We hope that your broken hearts will know a deep and true peace that will only come with time and healing filled with other touching moments and that family and friends can begin to soothe the saddened hearts and the emptiness that may seem impassable at the moment.

Please know that our family's thoughts are with you all , today, and in those moments when you ask, "why". We have faith that you will all pull together and strengthen each other and remember Roger fondly.

Take care of each other,
Chad and Candy Sue (White) West
Danielle (West), Michael, and Chloe Donovan
Alexandria (West) and Billy Wilson
