Marilyn Hyde Obituary

Marilyn K. Hyde, age 75, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield. She was born July 12, 1948, in Pittsfield, IL to Homer and Donna McConnell Bauer. Marilyn first married Bill Moyers and to this union her two children were born. Marilyn later married Bob Hyde January 23, 1981, at Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield and he preceded her in death September 27, 2020; and to this union Marilyn welcomed four stepdaughters and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was a 1966 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was a lifelong member of Independence Christian Church where she played the piano, taught Sunday School and helped plan many activities and dinners. In early years she worked for several area attorneys and most recently worked in the deli at County Market. Marilyn was active in 4H in her youth, showing cattle, horses and sheep. As an adult, she continued her commitment to 4H by becoming a leader of the Independence Hustlers and shared her love with her children and area youth. She and Bob showed quarter horses for several years and then raised and showed Reg. Oxford and Dorset sheep, where many friends were made, and good times shared when they lived on their farm south of Time for 25 years. Marilyn loved flowers and enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches. She was a member of the Pike County Fair Board and HCE where she showcased her talents as an organizer and was always willing to help anyone in need. She could be a tad bit stubborn and headstrong but was always willing to have a good chat and get things done!

Marilyn is survived by her son, Clark (Tabby) Moyers of Pleasant Hill, IL; daughter, Karen (Bill) Hooper of Pearl, IL; grandchildren, Seth (Bailey) Moyers, Emily (Klayton) Fox and Justin Hooper; great grandsons, Grayson Moyers, Henry Moyers, another boy on the way, and great-granddaughter, Raelynn Fox; brother, Bryan (Lisa) Bauer; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Donna Bauer; husband, Bob Hyde; and in-laws, George and Agatha Gerard.
