Lois A. Ruble, age 85, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at her home in Pittsfield. She was born September 19, 1938, in Pike County, IL to Vernon and Anna Benz Halsey. Lois married George Ruble August 4, 1982, at their home and he survives.
Lois attended Nebraska School until 8th grade and then went on to attend Nebo Schools. In early years, she participated in weekend sing-a-longs and later shared her talents with the piano and guitar playing at Eastside Healthcare Center once a week. Over the years she worked at Pleasant Hill garment factory, was a biscuit maker at Hardees and then became a personal assistant for J.L. Wade at Trio Manufacturing; but her favorite role was as a homemaker for her family. She also spent time working with her husband running R&R Chimney Sweeps and helped deliver travel trailers around the United States. Lois enjoyed traveling and going to the boat where she always took advantage of the complimentary room and meals. Lois was a good mother and grandmother who encouraged her children to get involved in activities and later she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s many sporting activities. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, collecting dolls and cookbooks. Lois was a loving and caring woman who was generous and strong and will be deeply missed.
Lois is survived by her husband, George Ruble; sons, Roger (Jan Gaylord) Sidwell of Pittsfield, IL and Rick (Janet Black) Sidwell of Bowling Green, MO; daughter, Debbie Triplett of Louisiana, MO; grandchildren, Jeremy Sidwell, Amy Sidwell, Ashley Sidwell, Tiffany Sidwell, Ricky Lee Sidwell and Jessica Clark; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brothers, Keith (Diane) Halsey of Mattoon, IL and Donnie (Francis) Halsey of Bethalto, IL; and sister-in-law, Joann Halsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Anna Halsey; and two brothers, Earl Halsey and Ron Halsey.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation to be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Interment will follow the service at Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Eastside Healthcare Activity Fund.
