Albert Calvin McDonald, 86 of New Canton, IL passed away Saturday morning, March 31, 2018 at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry, IL.  Albert was born March 24, 1932 in the rural Rockport area in a log cabin, the son of Andrew and Lizzy Peterson McDonald.

Mr. McDonald began working as a farm hand at an early age, and worked several farms in the area for most of his working life.  He spent many years working for the Frankie Whitefield farms between Milton and Detroit.  For a time he also drove a truck for Hannibal-Quincy Truck Line (later Gully Trucking).  Albert was a Christian, and attended several local churches in the area over the years.  He enjoyed fishing in his off time and later, loved to watch the television.

Albert is survived by his long time loving companion Pauline Knowlson of  New Canton, and three sons; Steve McDonald of Time, IL, Jesse McDonald of Pittsfield, and Randy McDonald of Bradenton FL.  Four grandchildren survive; Mike Olinger of Nashville, TN, Stacy McDonald of Pittsfield, Shane McDonald and Micah McDonald both of Bradenton FL.  He is also survived by one brother Charles McDonald, and several nieces and nephews.  Albert was preceded by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday April 4th at the Shearer Cemetery near New Canton with Pastor Greg Maize officiating.  No formal visitation will be held, but friends are invited to come to the cemetery services.  Memorials may be left to the family C/O Niebur Funeral Homes.  On-line condolences may be left at nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry is handling the arrangements
