Jeffrey "Red" Witherbee, 55, of rural Pittsfield, IL passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  He was born on November 1, 1962 in Peoria, IL to Kessler and Lillian Neal Witherbee.  He married Helen Marie Spradlin and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2011.

Jeffrey grew up in Nortonville, IL and then worked at Gano Electric in Jacksonville for several years.  He was a great artist and was very good with his hands.  He enjoyed working in the yard and doing landscaping outside of his house.  Jeffrey loved nature and spending time with nature.  He had a way with animals and was always nurturing to ones that had been abandoned or hurt.  Jeffrey loved the river and the water and he never wore shoes.  He was a great and beloved friend to everyone he came across and he will be missed by many.

He is survived by his mother, Lillian Witherbee; his sons, Jeremey Witherbee of Jacksonville, IL and Josh Witherbee of Pittsfield, IL; a daughter, Holly Hobson of Valley City, IL; four grandchildren, Jacob Hobson, Alexis Hobson, Thaddeus Witherbee, and Hayleigh Witherbee; brother, Leslie Witherbee of Waverly, IL; and two sisters, Debbie (Jerry) Trader and Linda Witherbee, both of Waverly, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kessler Witherbee; wife, Helen Witherbee; and sister, Carol Cray.

No services will be held and cremation rites have been accorded.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

My heart aches for all of you at the passing of Jeff. He was always kind and friendly to those he met.
