M. Sue Hoyt, 84, of Barry, IL passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Barry Community Care Center.  She was born on March 12, 1933 to Pete and Mildred Nelson Hollembeak in Springfield, MO.  Sue married the love of her life, Marvin Hoyt, on April 17, 1971 at the Barry United Methodist Church, and he survives.

Sue graduated from Quincy High School and went on to attend John Wood Community College where she received her CNA certificate.  She had a love for antiques and in early years, she bought and sold for Carson Pirie Scott.  Sue also owned and operated her own antique store for several years in Barry and then worked for different stores in Quincy and Hannibal.  She also worked as a CNA for Barry Community Care Center for several years.  Sue attended the Barry United Methodist Church and was a member of Home Extension and the DAR.  She helped with the Barry Apple Festival and was a cofounder of the Apple Dumplin Inn.   She loved tending to her flowers and enjoyed traveling with Marvin.  She also liked going to the gambling boat.  Sue’s biggest passion was buying and selling antiques.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; her two sisters, Karen (Mick) Goggins and Janice (Robert) Fruehe, all of Quincy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Rob Tunnicliff.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry with Pastor JoAnn Ruff officiating.  Interment will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.  There will be a visitation on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Quincy Unity Point Hospice or Barry United Methodist Church.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
