Richard "Jake" W. Taylor, 85, formerly of Springfield, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Liberty Village of Pittsfield.  He was born on December 10, 1931 in Chambersburg to Paul and Mae Henson Taylor.  Jake was married to Leona Taylor and she preceded him in death.

After graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1949, Jake served in the United States Army and was discharged in 1955.  He went on to work for Callender Construction for several years before working for Local 965 where he retired in 1994 after 30 years.  Jake enjoyed working on lawn mowers and fishing.  He also liked hunting pheasant and quail and went coon hunting with his brother, Junior.  

He is survived by two sons, Rick Taylor and Mike Taylor, both of Pittsfield; two daughters, Kim Whitlock of Hamburg and Vicky Lewis of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Josh Taylor, Sarah McNulty, Robby Taylor, Brady Taylor, Cara Taylor, Erin Cawthon, Tracy Cawthon, Brandon Whitlock, and Katlin Whitlock; and eleven great grandchildren with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leona; a brother, Junior Taylor; and a sister, Betty Heightman.

No services will be held.  Online condolences may be left to the family at  Niebur Funeral Home is assisting the family.
