Martha Ann Wassell, 86, of Pittsfield passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at Liberty Village in Pittsfield.  She was born on February 5, 1931 to Joseph and Hazel Fowler Ryan in Winchester.  She married Walt Wassell on December 21, 1985 in Bowling Green, MO and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1992.

Martha was a cook and waitress at Ralph's Drive-In before going to work as a bartender at Lindsay's Tavern in Pittsfield for many years.  In later years, she delivered the Jacksonville and Quincy newspapers in Pittsfield for over 25 years.  Martha loved to fish during the day and play bingo at night.  She enjoyed picking blackberries and collecting bells.  She always cherished the gifts that were given to her by her family.  

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Bennett of Griggsville, Judith Leerhoff of Pittsfield, and Karen Ruble of Nebo; two stepchildren, Terry (Jody) Wassell and Sherry (Ralph) Pease, both of Pittsfield; fourteen grandchildren; five step grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; thirty-nine great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walt; a daughter, Debbie Lou; a grandson, Gary Dale Splain; great granddaughter, Adrianna; great great grandson, Waylon Rose; three brothers, Jim Ryan, Bill Ryan,  and Lloyd Ryan; a brother Paul in infancy; and seven sisters, Margaret Sanderson, Louise Longcor, Betty Ryan Dugan, Hazel Cole, Francis Lindsay, and Roberta Gregory.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery.  There will be a visitation prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Calvary Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
