Jean Kern, 80, of Milton, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.  She was born on July 30, 1937, the daughter of Olin and Louise Talkington Johnson near Bettell Creek.  

Jean graduated from Pearl High School and worked there for a time as a secretary before marrying Johnie Kern.  In 1957, they moved to Germany where Johnie served in the Army.  After returning from overseas, Jean worked as a cook at East Pike High School and also drove the special education bus for several years.  In 1976, she began working for Capitol Records, later named EMI, and retired from there in 2002.  Jean attended Milton Christian Church and Time Community Church.  She enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Jean also loved to read and play cards with her daughters.

She is survived by three daughters, Joy Kern of Pittsfield, Jana (Randy) Graham of Milton, and Jeana (Rex) Ramsey of Milton; five grandchildren, Jalie Maines, Jobe Arnold, Jessica Graham, Jordyn Arnold, and Jace Graham; nine great grandchildren, Jude Bay, Jerzie Maines, Jolin Maines, Jaida Maines, Janelle Arnold, Jorgia Arnold, Jantzen Blackketter, Joleigh Blackketter, and Joseph Graham; and one sister, Betty Franklin of Pittsfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Jill Arnold; a great granddaughter, Joey Rachelle Maines; a brother, Robert Johnson; and a sister, Judy McConnell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Milton Christian Church with Reverend Dr. David Leslie officiating.  Interment will be at Greenpond Cemetery following the service.  Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11:30 AM Monday at the church before the service.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Time Community Church or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home has been entrusted with the services.
