Bill Morris, 85 of Pittsfield passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at his residence in Pittsfield. Bill was born on March 2, 1932 in Morgan County a son of Lloyd and Isabel O'Bannon Morris.  He married Lela Capps on March 20, 1976 in the Central Christian Church in Jacksonville; she survives.

Bill grew up in the Jacksonville- Arenzville area and was a graduate of Jacksonville High School.  He worked as a construction operating engineer and had worked for Cadwell Engineering for fifty years as a project superintendent and also as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1995.
He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #965 for over forty years.  

In Bill's earlier years he loved coon hunting and running his dogs.  He had an eye for antiques and enjoyed working on small engines. Bill loved to make things run right.  He enjoyed fishing and going to Sun City Center, Florida with Lela for the winter.  

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Lela; two sons, Greg Morris of Chapin and Robert (Joanne) Lacy of Pittsfield; two daughters, Barbara Stock of Wood River and Ann (Bob) Ackerman of Wee Ma Tuk; ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.  Bill is survived by two sisters-in-law, Donna (Wendall) Hall and Pat Marksbury; two brothers-in-law, Robert Capps and Harold (Mary Catherine) Capps and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Charlie Morris and David Lacy; his twin sister, Betty Fisher; two brothers-in-law, Bill Marksbury and Glenn Capps; a sister-in-law, Ermadel Capps; and a niece and nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Clint Weir officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Interment will be in the West Cemetery in Pittsfield.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorial's be made in Bill's memory to the Pittsfield West Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  The Niiebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield has been entrusted with the service.

Our sincere sympathy to all of the family, especially to Barbara and Greg.
We have many happy memories of Bill from 1950s to 1970s.
