Donald Lee "Bud" Newman, 86 of Pittsfield passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at his residence.  Bud was born on November 10, 1930, in Griggsville, a son of Welcome John and Nora Brown Newman.    Bud married Joan Lashmett in 1955 and to this union were two sons, Pat and Bill.  On April 15, 1960 he married Dorothy Ellis in the Pittsfield Methodist Church and to this union were two sons, Don and Doug.

Bud attended the Griggsville Schools and after graduating from high school he then started driving a truck for George Gerard and Trio Manufacturing for thirty years.  He then started selling cars at Campbell's car dealership in Winchester and later at Milo Barton's Oldsmobile in Pittsfield.  After selling cars for fifteen years Bud decided to go back to trucking and drove for Darrell Howard moving heavy equipment.

He enjoyed gardening and sharing his tomatoes and vegetables with others over the years.  He loved canning beets from his garden, cooking and keeping his yard looking nice.  As a youngster Bud enjoyed hunting with his brothers.  He dearly loved his wife, Dorothy, his kids and grandkids.

In addition to his wife  Dorothy, Bud is survived by four sons: Patrick (Angelynn) Newman of Springfield; William (Mindy) Newman of Pittsfield; Donald (Angie) Newman of Carthage; and Douglas (Tammy) Newman of Springfield; four grandchildren, Dustin (Megan) Newman of Pittsfield; Nikki (Cory) Grohler of Buckley; John Ross Newman of Brook Line, MO; Paige, Dalton and Marissa Newman of Carthage; four step grandchildren, Laurelynn, Chip, Sammy and Luke; and four great grandchildren, Aden and Eli Grohler of Buckley and Conner and Cassidy Newman of Pittsfield.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter in infancy; three brothers, Jim, Marsh and Vin Newman; and four sisters, Florida McLaughlin, Helen Roberts, Edna Dunham and Betty Marie Newman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Mike Evans officiating.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Pittsfield West Cemetery.

Danna and myself would like to express our heartfelt condolences to Dorothy, Pat, Bill, Doug, Don, the grandchildren and all the family. I share many fond memories of Bud going way back to the 1950s including as a 3 year old riding on his Harley with him! We were so glad to have spent time with him and Dorothy these past two summers at Bill & Mindy's and Pat and Angelynn's wedding. Mike & Danna Lashmett
