Clifford Ray Wainman, 83 of Pittsfield, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.  Clifford was born on October 21, 1933 in Chambersburg, a son of Wilford R. and Agnes Richardson Wainman.  He first married Pat Tooley Wainman then later married Kathleen Fricke Sleight on June 26, 1976 in Pleasant Hill.

Clifford graduated from Griggsville High School and worked as a meat cutter at Pegwell Meat Packing Company, Bergmans Meat Packing and the Red & White grocery store in Griggsville.  He later loved working as a self employed carpenter for many years.  

Clifford enjoyed camping and having coffee with his friends at McDonald's.  He looked forward to the weekend trips to the Cardinal Inn and K C's Place in Louisiana for dinner.  He also loved listening to country music and was a fan and follower of the Illinois Opry Show making many friendships throughout the years.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; sons, Clifford (Beverly) Wainman of Paducah, KY; Tom (Robin) Wainman of Pittsfield; Chris (Jeri) Wainman of Griggsville; David (Carol) Sleight of Virginia Beach, VA; and Michael (Lorrie) Sleight of Athens; daughters, Terri (Kent) Shaver of Mt. Sterling; and Karen (Shaun) Maulding of Plainfield.  Twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren survive in addition to a brother, Gerald (Annabelle) Wainman of Griggsville; a sister, Mary Ottwell of Oregon; sisters-in-law, Karen (Allen) Penrod; and Gail Fricke; brothers-in-law, William (Anna) Fricke and Edwin (Karen) Fricke.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Amy Wainman Reichert, a brother, Charlie Wainman; brother-in-law, Bob Fricke; a sister, Cloetta Hannel.

A visitation with Clifford's family will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Interment will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pike County Animal Shelter.  Condolences may be sent to the family at  The Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield has been entrusted with the service.

I am sorry to hear of Clifford's death. When he visited NH back in the 1980's for various family reunions, he was a joy to listen to when telling his life experience stories. I will miss him, and wish Kathleen, her children, and Clifford's family my deepest sympathy.
