Elizabeth "Betty" L. Miller, 96 of Pittsfield passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield. Betty was born on April 7, 1920 in Hardin Township, a daughter of the late Harvey and Etha Mason Hack. Betty married Floyd Miller on December 28, 1940 in Bowling Green, MO. He precedes her in death.
Betty was a member of the Pearl Church of Christ. Betty and Floyd operated "Millers Grocery & Hardware" store in Pearl. She was also a teacher at the Pearl School for several years. Betty retired from the Pittsfield Unit #10 School District after serving as a secretary for numerous years. She loved needlepoint, embroidery making quilts, reading and word puzzles.
Betty is survived by nieces, Peggy Bissel of Colorado and Judy Chesley of Connecticut and great nephews, Roger and Mike Hack; in addition to other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Woodson, John, Bernard and William Hack; a niece, Mary Jean Hack and two nephews, Charlie and Bob Hack.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Don Crater officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Greenpond Cemetery near Pearl.
Memorials are suggested to be made to Greenpond Cemetery or Mississippi Valley Church Camp. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nieburfh.com. The Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield has been entrusted with the service.
