GLOVER L. WATKINS, 73, of Pittsfield, IL, formerly of Elsberry, MO, passed away Sunday June 20, 2010 at his residence. He was born on June 2, 1937 in St. Louis, MO, a son of Royce Dean “Pete” and Violet May (Hunter) Watkins. Glover married Valerie Turnbaugh on June 2, 1997 in Gatlinburg, TN.

Glover had been a truck driver for Callender Construction and Carnes Trucking and worked at Pillsbury in Florence, IL. Glover was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed golf, story telling, listening and singing country music, and was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and Cardinals baseball fan. Glover greatly enjoyed his grandkids.

Glover is survived by his wife Valerie (Turnbaugh) Watkins, son Steven W. Watkins (wife Polly) both of Pittsfield, IL. stepsons Jason Place (wife Jennifer) Milton, IL, Joseph Place (wife Dana) Jacksonville, IL, daughters Jill R. Watkins Moore (husband Jerry) Liberty, IL, Kimberly B. Watkins Shade (husband Jim) Pittsfield, IL, and stepdaughter Kelly Kuhn (husband Charles) Golden Eagle, IL. Ten grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren also survive.

Also surviving are brothers Bennie Watkins (wife Carol) of Elsberry, MO, Lonnie Watkins (wife Carol) of Chico, CA, and sisters Ellen Chamberlin (husband Lyndle) Elsberry, MO, and Mary Lou.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday June 23, 2010 at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Rev. Marvin Hunter officiating. Interment will be at the Greenpond Cemetery near Pearl, IL. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, June 22, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.
