Stanley R. Dyer

STANLEY R. DYER, 55,  of  Quincy, IL and formerly of Nebo and Pittsfield, IL, passed away, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Blessing Hospital in QuincyStanley was born November 11, 1954 in Pittsfield, IL, a son of Richard and Wilma Stewart Dyer.  His mother preceded him in death in 2001.

 

Stanley graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1972 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Quincy University, Quincy, IL with a Bachelor of Arts in English.  He was a playwright and author winning second place in the 15th Annual Henrico Theatre Company One-Act Playwriting Competition for the play “Love…and Other Four-Letter Words”, West Coast Ensemble, Los Angeles, CA. Other productions included “A Night of Stan Dyer”, Quincy University,  “Somewhere on the Road to Memphis and Gnome, Sweet Gnome”, Raintree Arts Council, Clarksville, MO, “Another Fine Christmas”, Pike Theatre Guild, Pittsfield, IL and “A Dirty Mind is its Own Reward”, Love Creek Productions Autumn One Acts 2001 New York City.  He was baptized at the Milton Baptist church and courageously battled kidney disease with dialysis.

 

Stanley is survived by his father and stepmother, Richard and Norma Dyer of Pittsfield and three brothers, Alan (Vivien) Dyer of Lawrenceville, GA., Kevin (Diana) Dyer and Jay Dyer both of Pittsfield.  Stepbrother, Robert (Pollyann) McCann of Wood River, IL and stepsister, Annette (Doug) Whitlock of Milton also survives along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with Alan Dyer and Earnest Johnson officiating.  Interment will be in the Pittsfield West Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the Niebur Funeral Home.

 

Memorials are suggested to the Pittsfield West Cemetery or the Quincy University Fine Arts Department.
