Max Bartlett

MR. MAX BARTLETT, 85, of Pittsfield, Illinois died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at the Pittsfield Manor.  He was born on October 26, 1924 in Griggsville, Illinois to Charles and Myrtle Clark Bartlett.  His first marriage was to Rosemary Trautwein, and she preceded him in death. He married Barbara Schaell on March 29, 1963 and she survives.

Mr. Bartlett served his country in the US Army during WWII.  He was employed at Grubb Photo Engraving in Champaign, Illinois,  Clausen Photo Engraving in Pittsfield, Illinois and later became a partner and President of the Company.  Mr. Bartlett and his wife Barbara were partners in the B & B Printing in Pittsfield, Illinois.  He was a member of the Pittsfield United Methodist Church and the Pittsfield American Legion Post # 152 where he was a Past Commander and a member of the Drill Squad.  He enjoyed carpenter work, building some of his own homes.   

Survivors:  His wife Barbara Bartlett, two sons, Jack Bartlett of Rome, Georgia, and Charles “Chuck” Bartlett of Pittsfield, Illinois, a daughter, Gina Bartlett of San Francisco, California, a sister, Mary Ellen Moyer of Altoona, Iowa, four grandchildren Arlo and Max Halpern and Kim and Deanna Bartlett and two great granddaughters Macala and Isabelle, along with several nieces and nephews.  

Mr. Bartlett was preceded in death by a son Steve Bartlett, a brother Wilbur Bartlett, a sister, Norma Jean Splain Anders, and a granddaughter, Michelle Bartlett. 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield, Illinois with Rev. Tom Wilbur officiating.  Burial will be at the West Cemetery where Military rites will be conducted by the Pittsfield American Legion Post # 152. A lunch for family and friends will be held after the services at the Pittsfield Methodist Church Orr Hall. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2010 from 5 until 7 p.m.  at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield, Illinois.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Cemetery or the Calvary Cemetery.
