Mildred S. Towell, 94, of Vandalia, IL and formerly of Pittsfield, IL passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Fayette County Long Term Care in Vandalia, IL.

She was born on November 20, 1915 in Lanox, MO, a daughter to Elmer Bruce and Clara Sanders Arthur.  She and Floyd Towell were married in Hillsboro, IL on December 20, 1932 and he preceded her in death on August 5, 1994.

Mildred and Floyd operated the Nu-Way Cleaners in Pittsfield for twenty-one years before retiring in 1971.  She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Pittsfield Women’s Club.  Mildred enjoyed flower gardening and playing pinochle.

A niece, Pat (Frankie) Jones of Vandalia, IL, great niece, Christina Donaldson of Dahlgren, IL and a nephew, Robert Siebert of Dallas, TX, survives Mildred.

A brother, John Arthur, preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Michael Teneyck officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, 1:30 until 2:30 p.m.  Interment will be in the West Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Pittsfield West Cemetery or donor’s choice.
