George Zebrun

MR. GEORGE ZEBRUN, 87, of Pittsfield, Illinois died Monday, May 10, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, Illinois.  He was born in Benld, IL. on  January 21, 1923 to Joseph and Rose Kehart Zebrun.  His first marriage was to Marie Zeschki on June 20, 1948.  He married Betty H. Havener on April 25, 1980 in Gibson City, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2004.  Mr. Zebrun was a Wildlife Biologist for the Fisheries and Wildlife for the State of Illinois from 1952 until 1992.  He served his country in the US Marine Corp during World War II.  He was of the Russian Orthodox faith.  He was a member of the Pittsfield American Legion Post # 152, Pike County V.F.W. Post # 9513, a committee member of the Pike County Duck’s Unlimited, Pike County Quails Unlimited, Pike County White Tails, Wild Turkey Federation, NRA, and Illinois Rifle Association. 

Survivors:  Two sons:  George Zebrun, Jr. of Alto Pass, IL, and Joseph Zebrun of Pittsfield, Il; two daughters:  Olga Kramer (Mike) Rives, of Carlinville, Il, and Liese (Tom) Zebrun-Gero, of Helena, MT, a sister: Olga (William) Stinnett, of Carlinville, Il, seven grandchildren Jason Kramer, Meghan Morris, Jason Rives, Kaleb Zebrun-Gero, George Zebrun III, Nicholas Zebrun, and Jamie Boatwright, and  three great grandchildren:  Cooper Morris, Harper Lee Lammle, and Jensen Boatwright.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother:  William Zebrun. 

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield, Illinois  A visitation will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 4 until 7 pm at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield, Illinois where Military rites will be conducted by the Pittsfield American Legion Post # 152. 

A visitation will also be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld, IL.  A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. following the visitation.

In lieu of flowers the family would like George to be remembered by taking a child hunting or fishing or to the Marine Corp Heritage Foundation.
