El Dara, IL, Mrs. Gweneth  Martin, age 88 of Barry and formally of El Dara, IL, died Saturday afternoon (5/8/10) at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry IL.  She was born October 21, 1921 in Aurora, NE to George E. and Edna Alice Roberts Colvin.  She married Lyndle T. Martin on June 8, 1940 in New London, MO and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2000.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the United Methodist Church in Barry, the Pike County Home Extension and the Pike County Farm Bureau.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, flower gardening and especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons; Robert (wife Dianna) Martin and Joe (wife Janet) Martin of Barry, IL; a daughter Mrs Diane (husband John) Walschlager of Columbia, MO. 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.  She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

As per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded.  A private family service will be held at a later date.  Memorials are suggested to the Taylor Martin Cemetery in care of the funeral home.  The Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry is handling the arrangements.  On-line condolences may be left at nieburfh.com
