Robert Y. Bigley

Robert Y. Bigley, 51, of Perry, IL and formerly of Pittsfield, IL passed away, Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Illini Community Hospital Emergency Room in Pittsfield, IL.

Bob was born at Fort Campbell, KY on August 11, 1958, a son to Donald W. and Sally I. Pressey Bigley.  Bob was a correctional officer for 26 years for the Illinois Department of Corrections and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Pittsfield. Bob and Lisa Daniels were married on May 10, 1980.

 

Bob’s many interests include golfing at the Plum Creek Golf Course at Winchester, bowling, reading, yard work and gardening, fishing, mushrooming, and baking chocolate chip cookies.  He also coached for the high school football and baseball teams at Pittsfield High School, coached Little League baseball for six years, and was an avid fan of Illini basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

 

His father, Don (Arlene Judy) Bigley of Alsey, IL, son, Brandon Bigley of Milton, and two daughters, Ashley (Jaron) Moss of Baylis and Chelsea Bigley of Pittsfield and two granddaughters, Emma and Chloe Moss survive Bob.  One brother, Don Bigley and one sister, Lori (Mike) Hill both of Pittsfield also survive along with his grandmother, Pearl Gibbs of Winchester, one niece, five nephews and several aunts and uncles. Also surviving is friend, Esther Shoemaker of  Perry, IL. His mother, Sally Bigley preceded him in death in 2006.

 

Services are being held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield with Rev. Bill Herald officiating.  Interment will be in the Blue River  Cemetery in Detroit, IL. A lunch for family and friends will be held at the Calvary Paptist Church after the services. Visitation will be held Friday evening, March 19 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield

 

Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pittsfield High School Football Program or the education fund for his grandchildren.
