Kenneth Bergman

R. Kenneth Bergman, 87, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Griggsville Estates in Griggsville, IL.  Kenneth was born March 29, 1923 near Baylis, IL a son of Raymond Kenneth Sr. and Mildred R. Crawford Bergman.  He married Charlene Bradburn on April 13, 1946 at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church and she survives.

 

Kenneth was a farmer and a seed corn and livestock feed sales representative for numerous years.  He was a sales representative for the Hobbit Seed Company, Bear Seed Company and the Columbiana Feed and Mineral Company.  He was a member of the Detroit Christian Church, enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, and was quite known for giving out peppermint candy.  One of his favorite pass times was going to the Cardinal Inn for coffee where he loved joking with the waitresses and visiting with friends. He was a member of the Liberty Farm and Good Road Club, a St. Louis Cardinal fan, Chicago Bulls fan and a NASCAR fan.

 

His wife Charlene of the Griggsville Estates, Griggsville, IL and four children, son, Steve Bergman of Greeley, CO; Judy (Charlie) Duggins of New Berlin, IL; Jane (Tom) Moore of Longmont, CO and Sandy (Steve) Smothers of Pittsfield, survives him.  Thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and sisters, Dorothy Lippincott of Pittsfield and Eleanor Braun of Gulfport, MS also survive.

 

His parents and a sister, Elizabeth Fudge, preceded Kenneth in death.

 

Services are being held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Pastor Eric Moore, Mike Evans and Tom Barger officiating.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. A lunch will be served for the family and friends at the Cardinal Inn in Pittsfield after interment.  Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home.

 

Memorials are suggested to the Detroit Christian Church or Griggsville Estates Activity Fund.
