Alfred Lee Hooper, 66, of Summer Hill, IL passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010 at St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis, MO.  He was born in Pittsfield, IL on August 20, 1943 a son to Waunda W. and Mary A. Peecher Hooper.  He married Patricia Tucker on April 3, 1971 at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church and she survives.

Alfred Lee was a truck driver since 1985 for Gully Transportation in Quincy and farmed in the Atlas Township. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of the Summer Hill Congregational Church.  His interests included being a member of the Pittsfield Lodge #790 AF & AM, the Griggsville Saddle Club and in his earlier year’s he was very active in the Pittsfield FFA Chapter and served as Vice President.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, his Farmall “H” and Ford 8N tractors, trail rides, horse shows, and spending time with his family and friends, especially family reunions.

His wife Patricia and three children survive him, Philip Hooper of Oakland, KY; Lance (Shelly) Hooper of Stilesville, IN; and Amy Hooper of Clinton, IL. along with two granddaughters, two grandsons and one great granddaughter.  Nephews and nieces surviving are Bill (Karen) Hooper of Pittsfield, IL; Bob Hooper of Carbondale, IL; Paula Goewey of Nebo, IL; and Katy Hooper of St. Louis, Mo.

A brother, Edgar Paul Hooper in 2003 and a sister preceded him in death in infancy.

Services are being held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Michael TenEyck officiating.  Interment will be in the Summer Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites being accorded by the Pittsfield American Legion Post #152.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, January 20,  after 5 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.

Memorials may be made to the Summer Hill Cemetery or to Alfred Lee’s granddaughters, Madalyn Jane Sidwell and Randi Leigh Hooper education fund.
