Wilma Wade

MRS. WILMA WADE, 87, of Pittsfield died on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 3:42 p.m. at the Liberty Village, Pittsfield, IL.  She was born August 21, 1921 near Pleasant Hill, IL, a daughter of the late Everette and Bessie Silkwood Griffith.  She married Walter V. Wade December 26, 1944 in Pleasant Hill and he passed away June 20, 1999.

Mrs. Wade was a 1939 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School.  She attended Illinois State University and graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Quincy, IL.  She worked mostly as a doctor office nurse and school nurse.  Later moving from Griggsville to Pittsfield, she worked with her husband and son as a licensed Real Estate sales person for over 30 years.  In addition, she did volunteer work in Pike County Cancer Association and in Alzheimer’s and Cancer support groups.  Wilma was one of three women who founded Pike County Hospice. 

Her memberships included United Methodist Church and Madonna Circle, Pittsfield Order of Eastern Star #195 and had been active for years in American Cancer Society and did much volunteer work and for many years active in Old Orchard County Club ladies golf. 

She is survived by three sons, Courtney (Joellen) Wade, Pittsfield, IL., Dr. Mark (Louise) Wade, Carlinville, IL and Dr. Michael G. Wade of Scottsdale, AZ and six grandchildren, Doug Wade, Ryan Wade, Bradley Wade, Adam Wade, Shane Wade and Lindsey Daniele Wade and three great grandsons Zachary Isaac Wade, Andrew Walter Wade and Benjamin Michael Wade.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents and one daughter Linda Ann Wade.

Private graveside services will be held at the Griggsville Cemetery following cremation rites as per her wishes.  Memorials may be made to Shrines’ Children’s Hospital, Griggsville Cemetery or Pike County Hospice.
