Carol Carter

CAROL ANN CARTER, 64, of Pittsfield, IL. died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Blessing Hospital, Quincy, IL. She was born August 19, 1944  in Pittsfield, IL to Richard and Juanita Landess Springer. She married Robert G. Carter on April 18, 1964 at the Greenpond Christian Church, and he  survives.

Mrs. Carter was a legal secretary for Lewis M. Grigsby Sr. for 35 years; she worked at the Red Dome Inn in Pittsfield as a waitress and bookkeeper, and she owned Sunnyhill Embroidery.  She was of the Christian faith.  She had attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Il.  She was a member of the Junior Parentals and Griggsville Saddle Club., enjoyed doing ceramics, doing sewing, quilting, knitting, embroidering, crafts, horseback riding, and showing horses  She enjoyed holiday baking especially making fruit cakes.  She also was a volunteer with the Pike County Food Basket Program.

Survivors include her mother, Juanita Springer of Pittsfield, IL, husband, Robert Carter of Pittsfield, Il, a son, Kirk (Vicky) Carter of Bowling Green, MO, a daughter,  Stacy Webel,  of Baylis, Il, two brothers, Robert (Linda) Springer of Pearl, Il, and Ron (Sharon) Springer of Pittsfield, Il, an uncle, Maurice Funk of Jacksonville, Il, close friends, The Lew Grigsby Sr. family, and four grandchildren, Austin Carter, Bailey Carter, Will and  Dustin Webel.

She was preceded in death by her father, and son-in-law, Rod Webel.

 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with Brother Don Amelung officiating.  Burial at the West Cemetery, Pittsfield, Illinois.   Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 4 until 7 pm at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield, IL. Memorials are suggested to the

Blessing Hospital, Pike County Red Cross, or the Pike County Food Basket Program.
