RODERICK “ROD” L. WEBEL, 44, of Rod was a member of the Detroit Christian Church. He was a John Wood Community College Orr Agriculture Center graduate. Named the 1997 Top Farm Family in the Nation, Rod was the President of the Western Illinois Fair Board, a member of the Griggsville-Perry Board of Education, John Wood Advisory Board, and the Pike County Farm Bureau Board. He was active locally with MDA, working with the telethon. He enjoyed hunting, traveling (especially cruises), spending time with his family, and working on his farm. Survivors include his wife, Stacy Webel, two sons, Wilson Lee “Will” Webel and Dustin Robert “Dusty” Webel, both of the home, a special friend, Jessica Funk of Beverly, Il, his in-laws, Robert and Carol Carter of Pittsfield, Il, his brother-in-law Kirk (Vicky) Carter of Bowling Green, MO, three brothers: Max (Kathryn) Webel of Baylis, Il, Stephen (Janet) Webel, of Baylis, Il, and Gene (Kathy) Webel of Pittsfield, Il, two sisters, Mrs. Kay (William) Fugate of Fairbury, Il, and Ann Williamson of Carrolton, Il, an aunt, Florence Wilson of Quincy, Il, and several nieces and nephews, as well as, several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Mary Webel, and his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Pat Webel, Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, the North Pike Fire Department, or the Rod Webel Memorial Agriculture Scholarship.
