EVELYN M. STEPHENSON, 85, of Pittsfield, IL. died on March 25, 2009, at the Eastside Health and Rehabilitation Center, Pittsfield, IL.  She was born April 9, 1923, in Pittsfield, IL, the daughter of Russell and Ina Anderson Smith.  She married Charlie Stephenson on February 7, 1942, in Hannibal, MO., and he preceded her in death on August 30, 1987. 

Mrs. Stephenson was a secretary for Farmer’s Mutual Insurance, a partner and cook at the Pittsfield Sale Barn, and a Lunch lady at both Milton School and Pittsfield High School.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Detroit, IL., Pittsfield American Legion Auxiliary, and Pike County VFW Post Auxiliary.

 Survivors include three sons: Robert Stephenson of Canton, IL., Larry Stephenson of Sayner, WI., and Church Stephenson of Griggsville, IL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, a brother, Russell Vern Smith and a sister, Etta Smith Carlander.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009, at 11:00am at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with Rev. Dave Kelly officiating.  Burial at the Blue River Cemetery, Detroit, Illinois. There will be a lunch at the Detroit Town Hall following the services. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 5 until 7 pm at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield, IL. Memorials are suggested to the Blue River Cemetery, or the Detroit United Methodist Church, or the Family Readiness Group % U.S. Army Reserves.
